Thanks to a poorly timed nap this afternoon, I have less than a hundred pages to go in the latest Kim Harrison book, The Undead Pool, and I still have to exercise and go to bed at a reasonable hour to be up and hiking with my parents early tomorrow morning. As such, I thought I’d do a quick post tonight so I can get my book finished and write a good, complete review for Saturday.
So at page 339 out of 421, how are things going, you ask? Amazing. Remember how the vampires turned back up at the end of Ever After and I was irritated to be torn away from my demons and elves? Well, the story has turned to vampires and Cincinnati again, and it’s such a good story that I don’t miss the demons as much as I thought I would. They’ve been around, well, Al and Newt have, and they’re my two favorites anyway, so I don’t mind so much that the others have been absent. There’s lots of Rachel and lots of Trent and all the usual suspects. There has been a lot of, um, tension between Rachel and Trent, and I just finished reading the er, climax, of that tension. I’ll avoid going into details. Suffice it to say it was gratifying for all.
More to come in a couple days!
There’s a demon named Newt? That’s amusing. I remember thinking that Newt Gingrich would make a good demon back when I read the Deborah Harkness books.
I haven’t talked about Newt yet?? Well for heaven’s sake! She is the only living female demon and she’s absolutely bat shit crazy. I LOVE her. Expect a paragraph about Newt in my actual review.
It’s possible you’ve written about her before. I may not have done the best job of keeping track of names.
